From Data to Discovery: Additional Ventures Launches reSOURCE

October 30, 2026

Additional Ventures has launched reSOURCE v1.0, the first research data release from the Single Ventricle SOURCE study – and a major step toward accelerating scientific discovery for individuals living with single ventricle heart disease.

Unveiled on October 8 at the 2026 Single Ventricle Investigator Meeting in Denver, reSOURCE is the largest known genomic dataset dedicated specifically to single ventricle heart disease – and its now available to qualified researchers worldwide at no cost.

Additional Ventures launched SOURCE with a clear vision: build a comprehensive genomic and clinical resource capable of answering critical questions about single ventricle heart disease and making it broadly accessible to the scientific community. With the launch of reSOURCE, that vision is becoming a shared platform for discovery.

A Powerful New Resource for Discovery

Despite decades of progress in surgical and clinical care, fundamental questions about single ventricle heart disease remain unanswered. Why do these heart defects develop? What genetic factors influence disease progression? And why do patients with seemingly similar cardiac anatomy experience dramatically different outcomes?

Answering these questions requires large, deeply characterized datasets that connect genetic information with clinical experience.

reSOURCE v1.0 brings together whole genome sequencing, family relationships, and clinical information across a cohort of 974 participants. The depth and family-based structure of reSOURCE create powerful new opportunities to identify genetic contributors to single ventricle heart defects, investigate factors influencing disease progression and complications, and uncover biological pathways that could inform future treatments.

Just as importantly, reSOURCE was built to be used. Additional Ventures is making the dataset broadly available to qualified researchers through a streamlined application and review process. There is no fee to access the data and no requirement to contribute data to SOURCE.

Approved researchers can explore and analyze reSOURCE data through Gencove Explorer, a cloud-based genomics platform, supporting research and collaboration across institutions and disciplines. Computing, storage, and data-transfer costs may apply.

Building Toward an Even Greater Impact

reSOURCE v1.0 is a foundation, not a finished product.

SOURCE aims to enroll and sequence 10,000 participants over the next three years, with new cohort-level data releases planned annually. As the resource grows, Additional Ventures also plans to connect reSOURCE with complementary clinical registries, imaging resources, and longitudinal datasets – creating an increasingly multidimensional view of the genetic and biological factors that shape health across a patient’s lifetime.

Our ambition extends beyond the size of the dataset. By placing this data in the hands of reserachers across disciplines and institutions, we hope to expand the number of people working on single ventricle heart disease, accelerate the pace of discovery, and create a stronger path from genetic findings to biological insight – and, ultimately, find better ways of predicting, preventing, and treating disease.

None of this would be possible without the patients and families who have generously contributed their DNA, medical information, and time to SOURCE. Their participation, alongside the dedication of our clinical, research, and technical partners, has made this milestone possible.

The data are here. The next chapter is discovery.

We invite researchers around the world to explore reSOURCE and join us in advancing the next generation of single ventricle research.
